Man's work has always been carried out in this land with absolute respect for the environmental landscape; this makes the territory of Montalcino an almost unaltered monument despite the fact that the product of its cultivation is famous throughout the world.
Although Brunello is a relatively recent wine, born at the end of the 19th century, it is already from the 13th century onwards that some documents testify to the area's profound vocation for wine production.
The fame of this important wine, which began in the 1930s, exploded in the 1960s when Brunello was awarded the Denominazione di Origine Controllata. One of the strictest specifications, protected by the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino, made it possible for Brunello in 1980 to be the first Italian wine to obtain the D.O.C.G. mark.
Depending on the cultivation area of the Sangiovese grosso vine, limited exclusively to the municipality of Montalcino, Brunello takes on different characteristics, so much so that today we speak of different types of Brunello: it is therefore up to the consumer to select the Brunello di Montalcino that best suits their personal tastes and expectations.
On request, wine shop Bruno Dalmazio organises visits to the Brunello di Montalcino cellars, an exciting journey among barrels and barriques, in some of the most characteristic wineries in the world.
